Breaking the Burnout Cycle
Creating an infrastructure to carry you through lows
As I sat in front of my air conditioner on full blast, trying to think of something meaningful to share, all that came to mind was, "I'm so burnt out."
I thought back to my early 20s when I would get burnt out, and everything I had been working on in my life would fall apart. I learned from that cycle, and for the last few years I've spent my energized times gaining tools and building an infrastructure so when I inevitably lose the will to maintain my growth, I can turn my brain off and let those systems carry me for a while.
I know I'm not alone in that. Being burnt out and not having the energy to try so hard to be the version of ourselves that makes us feel proud, and elevated, and grown. What we wear is one of the first things to go. We don't want to put the mental effort into solving the never ending question of, "What should I wear today?" We just grab those leggings off the floor, throw on a baggy shirt and avoid the judgment of looking in a mirror. "It is what it is." The subconscious effects of our appearance pushing us deeper into a slump.
The thing is, it doesn't have to be like that. You can have a closet that has the infrastructure in place, so you don't have to think when you get dressed. You can wear comfort seeking clothes even, that don't have that depressive effect. That's something I can take care of for you, so you have one less thing to worry about every day. It's not just the removal of a burden, it also has a lifting and energizing effect when we are wearing something we feel good about ourselves in.
If you're someone who falls into these slumps, I encourage you to start investing in that infrastructure, so when you're motivated, you don't have to waste your energy on rebuilding what's collapsed. That's what I've done, and it's allowed me to stop living in a cycle, and maintain my growth despite life's ups and downs.
What's the first step? The teeny tiny super doable step? Messaging me.
I've got you.
