Your Fear of Looking Fat, is Making You Look Boring
How to prioritize style over insecurity
I'm going to say something bold here...
Your fear of looking fat, is making you look boring.
A more delicate way of putting it is, your internalized fatphobia and the need to look as small as possible is keeping you from trying new silhouettes and wearing outfits that are stylish rather than slimming.
Whether you feel the need to snatch your waist every day or hide behind clothes that drown you, you've put yourself in a box.
One silhouette is not morally better than another. I'm not saying making insecurity or self soothing based style choices is wrong or bad either. I'm saying that when every single outfit you're willing to wear has the sole purpose of not looking as big or bigger than your body, that is holding you back from your true personal style. I know this because your authentic personal style is rooted in JOY, not fear.
Breaking out of that box is a process of self discovery and exposure therapy. Go deep with yourself and find out why you cling to control of the perception of your size. Then, step out of your comfort zone. Wear something outside of your norm for an hour at home. Then for a walk outside. Then for an entire day.
I promise you, this will bring you closer to a fulfilling, confident, joyful relationship with your clothes.
